Greek Fest 2006
Justin: Well, I think I over did it... Click on the September 2006 link there on the right to see the huge pile of pictures this time.
Today we got up early and I took a few shots of some new roses in the yard. A few I liked, most I didn't. I know, surprise, right? Well, they are getting better, I think, so one day I'll have some to really show off.
After that we got ready and went over to the Greek Orthodox Church "Greek Fest! 2006".
Of course I took the camera with me as I am working on taking more people shots and I figured with the costumes, et al, this would be a great practice place.
And it was fun!
It seems that since we got there so early it was small children time, performance wise, but that was fun too. We dropped into the school and checked out the exhibits/shops they had set up and if we had several hundreds of dollars, we would have trucked out load after load of wonderful oil paintings, jewelry, sculpture and linen goods.
Only to be outweighed by the piles of food....
ohhhhhhh...
I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of filo dough. You could probably put anything but lima beans in filo dough and I'd be happy. Throw in some feta and spinach, such as a spinakapeta and I'm just giddy.
So we sampled some deliciously guilty fare, sat in on a small study inside the main church that went over some of the differences between Greek Orthodox and the Catholic Church, etc., and just generally had a good time.
Across the street is an impressive cathedral-esque Methodist church (that for the longest time I believed to be part of the Greek Orthodox community - my bad - until I was informed today) and on our way out we dropped over there to play with the dogs that they had for adoption and for a couple of pictures.
After that it was off to the Habitat Re-Store to look at replacement doors and Borders for gifts and geeky reading materials.
Hope everyone is having a great and safe weekend.
J
