Tooting The Horn of Another: George Washington III

A friend of mine for several years, George Washington III is an accomplished baritone with Opera Carolina chorus and a successful voice over actor. This is on top of his being a father of 3 and having a full time job overseeing every PC in the Wachovia bank footprint. Under his belt are numerous opera appearances, charity performances, and even a UPS commercial. You may have heard him on the radio doing spots for several NBA franchises and even a small part in Madden 2007, if you're a console gamer. Over the weekend he returned home to Illinois for his most challenging part to date: a lead production role with an orchestral accompaniment WHILE along side established professionals of the field...
And he easily held his own.
The Peoria Journal Star (http://www.pjstar.com/stories/050707/TRI_BD4SKDNH.026.php) had a nice write up of the performance including statements such as "This is music of personality, joy and profundity. It wants to jump off the stage and pull you out of your seat and almost did just that."
This was a defining moment for Mr. Washington; stepping forth from the shadows of the choral crowd and into the individual spotlight. Congratulations, George. You deserve it.
