Another shot... trying to catch the morning light thru the blinds. Depth of Field is a little off but the colors came out well.

A couple shots of some flowers I picked up for Stace.

SUPER GOOEY CHEESY SEVEN MONTH ANNIVERSARY

I'm actually referring to the dinner but there was some sweet sugary couple talk going on for a few minutes. :-) The official anniversary is today but we celebrated last night as I have classes on Tuesdays (but they end next week - WOOHOO!). We went to the Macaroni Grill where JJ had his pasta milano (gotta love the garlic breath!) and I decided to try the Penne Rustica because how can one resist a pasta described as being surronded "by a heavenly halo of glorious golden cheese."? It was a nice night and we had a good talk and some slight mushiness but nothing that freaked our fellow diners out.
We always have such good talks and last night we decided something slightly contradicatory to having this blog - we're going to ignore the house for a while and even better than that, we're going to date. Not that we're not dating right now but we seem to do normal couple things at warp speed and forget that we're still kind of getting to know each other. Stress free fun couple evenings are good and we may even squeeze in some cooking or photography classes in there. Because I read in Cosmo that couples should do fun things together. :-)
But not to worry - I'm sure things will be updated at the house but probably nothing much for the next couple of weeks as we're out for Kara's wedding next weekend and I have this lovely final next week. And I still haven't painted the guest bedroom that I was supposed to paint two weeks ago.......oops. I better go - hope all is well with everyone!

A little update

Justin: So it’s been a week or so since we last posted… Not too much is going on at the moment. We did however attend the Spread Your Wings benefit on Saturday at the Neighborhood Theatre in NoDa. Several good bands played and we had a great time. One of the artists is now a new fav for me - Kevin Gordon. He is out of Nashville with a bluesy sound.
We also attended a silent auction where several local businesses placed products and services up for the charity. There were a lot of pictures, paintings, pottery, some event tickets, coupons, etc. We bid on a beautiful ceramic Ganesha-esque elephant head planter and won it, so it is now gracing our hallway (sans plant). Afterwards we went out for drinks with friends and ended up on our front porch, enjoying the full moon.

Sunday was Lazy Sunday, at least for me, where I reveled in the comfyness that is my couch and Panther’s football.

We are finally cleaning up the side porch as we got the old hot water heater tank out of there and gave Steve the old clothes washer. We hope it still works after the tumble it took when we were moving it…

The water heater is working well and I have no complaints about it other then the clicking noise it makes when it kicks on. The relays are quite loud. I called Eemax to see if this was normal and they said yes. They also sent me an insulation kit in hopes of dampening the noise some, but it doesn’t make a difference really. I appreciate their effort, none the less. They have really been a good company to deal with and I’ll recommend them to anyone.

For those who don’t know already, my sister is getting married soon. Whoo hoo! Congrats to her and her fiancé. I will be in the wedding so we will be heading out for that weekend and hope to turn it into a swirling four day see-everyone-you-possibly-can-in-four-days kind of road trip.

All right, I need to get back to work so I can get out of here.
We hope everyone is doing wonderfully and we’ll post more soon.

Stacey took this picture. Not sure how she pulled it off, but darn if it isn't interesting...

The blahness that was the bathroom before, with wood trim removed.

Sherwin Williams "Splashy". We are still looking for a fitting border tile and I am still working my case for crown moulding...

The final product. Eemax EX190T Tankless Instant Water Heater

a little blurbbage

Justin: So it looks like the plumber who started our lil hot water heater job will not be the same plumber to finish it. That guy was fired from the General Contractor we are working with and we were told not to give him a dime if he shows up asking for it.

Say it with me: SWEET.

Stacey has contacted another guy, John, and he is swinging by the house tonight to take a look. He says he should be able to do it tomorow, and Mike, our favorite electrician, said to just give him a buzz tomorrow night if he needs to wire it up.

We like Mike.

SO we may actually have hot water by the weekend! How exciting!

What else has been going on... Our long weekend was rather restful as I forwent my to-do list and essentially hung out with Stacey and our friends. We went out some, watched a movie, did laundry, etc. One of our friends was on a biscuit mission Sat morning and brought us Bojangle's breakfasts at 7 AM. No reason, he just wanted to buy biscuits. Not necessarily for us or anyone in particular, just wanted to buy biscuits. We have odd friends.
Another friend, Cabo Steve - remember Steve? - and I went, again, on Sat morning to several tile outlet stores as they were advertising sales... and again, we were DENIED. They were closed AGAIN. This time citing the Labor Day holiday. Ppppffffttt.
So we have yet to look at any real tiling. One thing at a time, I suppose.
Water heater, then tiling.
Steve is coming along with his house - he sanded and finished the floors this week.. Guess I should go over and take pics of his work as he's beating us in the Race of the Jones's.

Oh, Stacey's mid-term is tomorrow. Wish her luck.

OWWW!!! Just kidding-it's a plastic foot toy we found at PetSmart and had to get to indulge Oscar in his foot fetish. We still haven't weaned him off of human feet but we're hoping this will help.

What Justin did today while I studied...if anyone remembers pictures of the backyard, this used to be the mass of tangled weeds on the corner of the lot - Justin attacked it today and found some flowers!

I forgot to thank my mum for the cool stuff she brought when they visited. The clay cooker, the tangine which is really more decorative then functional at this point and the electric egg-timer (our favorite!). Thanks Mum!
